Unit V Basic Information

Well in this unit we`ll see how to read the clock, most of the people that is reading this knows how to read the clock, but well teach it anyway.

At the left you could see that theres one o`clock.

Each time that is a complete hour, you add o`colck to the time here is an example:

1:00 = one o`clock = una en punto

2:00 = two o`clock = dos en punto

3:00 = three o`clock = tres en punto

In this picture, you can see that the hour hand is pointing a little bit after the 2. The minute hand is pointing to the 4, so you know it is 20 minutes past the hour. Remember that you can count the minutes by 5's using the hour marks. The time on this clock is 2:20, or two-twenty.

You can divide an hour, which is 60 minutes long, into four parts. The parts are divided by the 0, 15, 30, and 45 minute marks as shown in the picture below. Each of the four parts are called quarters. In the table below, you will learn some ways to say the time using the word "quarter".

Sometimes the minute hand will point between two hour marks. You can count by 5's up to the hour mark before the minute hand, then count the minute marks up to where the minute hand is pointing. For example, look at this clock:

You count 5-10-15-20. Then count the minute marks: 21-22-23. The time is seven-twenty-three, or 7:23.

Family relationships
Usually, we relationate our family with their work, in that way we can ask for information about of the family and the relationships inside and out of the family.
The most of the times, this strategy is used inside the kinder garden enviorement in order that the children learn and remember the work of their parents. But not only is for know the parents activities, but also to know their age, their schedule, etc., using the most common questions in order to develop the oral communication between the children.
That`s why in this unit we’ll see how to make questions and answer questions to develop the oral communication.

The following are some of the most common occupations present in the everyday-life which will help us to relationate the ocupation with quetions.

Despite the information this theme can give us using this questions, this subject is useless if we wish to introduce ourselfs onto the advanced English language, that's why we said that this subject is almost ever directed to the childhood, but this kind of conversations are the base of the English speaking.
